eToims® Overview
eToims®, the acronym for the globally patent-protected, state-of-the-art, Non-Invasive Electrical Twitch Obtaining Intramuscular Stimulation System, searches for injured neuromuscular junctions, also known as trigger points to provide a superior diagnostic treatment for pain relief and physical therapy. Very brief surface electrical stimulation at trigger points causes muscles to twitch. That characteristic twitch is followed by muscle relaxation, i.e. cessation of spasm and muscle tightness with improved blood flow that can eliminate or decrease discomfort and/or pain. Pain relief from The eToims® Technique can be long-lasting. eToims® is completley unique and novel because the patient is often able to immediatley feel the sore muscle groups in their body begin to stimulate the healing process, with the most remarkable treatment effects resulting in the increases in movement and flexibility that the are provided. In many cases, eToims® can prevent surgery. The eToims® Technique and ET127 portable Evoked Response Stimulator are the patented inventions of Jennifer Chu, M.D., Emeritus Associate Professor in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School.
The use of minimal levels of electrical stimulation at deep neuromuscular junctions delivers a therapeutic effect superior to manual stretch techniques because of its added value of tissue mobilization effects from deep within the muscle. Progressively stronger levels of electrical stimulation can elicit deeper twitches that can be used for sports therapies and deep tissue therapies for aging muscles. The preferred, customized level of stimulation performed by a skilled clinician can be used in the treatment of acute and chronic nerve related muscle pain. The eToims® Technique also provides muscle re-education and nerve regrowth & regeneration which are especially important to the aging baby boomer population as nerves age along with the body, making older individuals more susceptible to injury. eToims® provides effects that can be likened to having a second heart pumping blood and oxygen at various sites throughout the body.
Long-term follow up clinical observations involving nearly 100 patients on the safety and efficacy of The eToims® Technique was published in the August 2008 issue of the Journal of Electromyography and Clinical Neurophysiology. eToims® is now available for partnership with treatment centers specializing in acute and chronic injuries in athletics, as well as general chronic pain. Current eToims® patients include world-famous athletes & weekend warriors, CEOs (including a Fortune 500 company CEO), highly successful entrepreneurs, university professors, specialist physicians, working professionals in law and government, and many others.
eToims® Technique treatment sessions are currently available at the Soft Tissue Comfort Center® in University City, Philadelphia. Soft Tissue Comfort Center® specializes in diagnosis and treatment which end muscle discomfort and pain from (a) work-related injuries, (b) repetitive strain injuries, (c) sports-related injuries, (d) aches and pains due to aging, (e) trauma due to car accidents, falls, lifting injuries, etc. and (e) injuries due to activities of daily living. eToims® is offered as a cash treatment, though there may be partial insurance coverage depending on your health care provider.
